FAQs

-
What are Invisalign attachments?Attachments are small, tooth-colored buttons specifically designed for each tooth movement. They interact with the aligners to move the teeth into position.
-
I finished my Invisalign treatment, now what? Most patients will receive a lower permeant retainer, all patients will receive clear plastic retainers (similar to to their trays) and will wear them full time for six weeks, after six weeks we recommend regular night time use of your retainer.
-
Does Invisalign hurt? When you move to each successive aligner, you may feel mild discomfort or aching for the first few days as the new tray applies pressure to some of your teeth. This goes away quickly and does not interfere with daily activities. If it is bothersome, an over-the-counter pain reliever helps.
-
Can I eat with Invisalign?Always remove your aligners when you are eating. We recommend removing them for no more than two hours each day for no more than 40 minutes each time. Because you remove your aligners when eating, you do not have to worry about anything getting caught in braces, so you are not restricted in what you can eat.
-
Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech? Some people are affected more than others, but most adjust in a short period of time to the feeling of the aligners and do not have permanent changes in their speech.
-
How often are appointments during Invisalign treatment? An appointment will be scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks during Invisalign treatment. If you travel for work or are interested in fewer office visits, ask us about virtual care!
-
Can I drink with Invisalign in?We Recommend you only drink clear liquid with your aligners in.
-
What is a refinement? Some patients have a tooth or teeth that do not fully move into its desired position. When this happens, we rescan the teeth and have an additional set of aligners created that focus on the specific tooth or teeth in question. The refinement process does not take as long as the initial treatment.
